The Polk County Historical Society accepts donations of items, documents and artifacts relating to the county’s history.
All artifact donations are considered by the Board. We take into account the item’s relevance to the county, condition, if we have similar objects, our ability to store and display the item, and whether it has supporting documentation (details on who made or used the item, photos of the item in use, receipts etc.)
If you’d like to submit a donation for consideration, please contact us at [insert contact info].
The Polk County Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. We rely on dedicated volunteers to help us meet our mission each day! No matter your time or interests, we have opportunities for you to share your skills.
Current volunteer opportunities include:
- Restoration work: Carpentry, laying floors, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Assessing and organizing museum displays
- Archival and genealogical work
- Grant writing
- Fundraising and marketing
